This research project deals with knowledge generation and knowledge transfer in the context of spatial planning. Knowledge generation and knowledge transfer in networks play an essential and emerging role in the knowledge society. Questions arise from these terms: How do knowledge generation and knowledge transfer proceed and what effect do both have?
In addition, what makes knowledge generation and knowledge transfer visible and analysable? What kind of channels of transfer are important and are in use and which paths are additively possible? Are there differences in knowledge exchange, between what is gained from meetings and from the time outside get-togethers? These questions are formed with the growing priority of science-practice-connections, in the light of an increasing weight of expectations of the society that science is confronted with. The main research question is: How are co-productive knowledge generation and knowledge transfer verified empirically?
Transfer channels and paths vary individually and are linked to the knowledge carrier like knowledge itself. By the help of a social network analysis, this research project will make knowledge generation and transfer more visible. The following up qualitative analysis gets into more detail and helps to find the behaviour and how knowledge generation and knowledge transfer is dealt with on an individual level. Even different forms of knowledge generation and knowledge transfer can be identified.
