The anthology “Sozialer Zusammenhalt vor Ort”, edited by Reinhold Sackmann, Peter Dirksmeier, Jonas Rees and Berthold Vogel, analyses mechanisms of the genesis of social cohesion. The contributions in this volume deal with the question of what these mechanisms are and how they can be created. Based on their own representative panel study, the contributions discuss how social cohesion can be established and maintained on a local scale. At the same time, their analyses illustrate the diversity of empirical approaches to explaining social cohesion.
