In a joint article Anna-Barbara Heindl and Ingo Liefner adapt and discuss the method „Analytic Hierarchy Process“ (AHP) for use in comparative research on Regional Innovation Systems. The method, developed in business studies is primarily used for complex decision making, allowing a multitude of variables and alternatives. The article demonstrates that after adaptation, the AHP can complement comparative research on Regional Innovation Systems, not least to address the shortcomings of hitherto applied quantitative and qualitative methods.
